We are hiring a Controller who will be responsible for leading a team that manages the entire accounting process that will drive financial decisions at the company. This role reports to the VP of Finance and works closely with the CFO and Manager of FP&A, secondarily the Controller will work with all department heads and the CEO. The Controller owns the complex functions of the accounting, treasury and auditing needs of the organization. The role is responsible for driving the monthly close, conceptualizing and owning process improvements and interpreting business decisions into GAAP compliant financials. It works closely with senior business leaders and finance team to inform and shape the organization's business decisions. The Controller manages a team of 4 accountants who are accountable for accounting procedures for two business lines, treasury and cash movement, AP/AR, expense reporting and credit card reconciliation and revenue reconciliations, etc. In this role you will be required to communicate with a variety of senior level stakeholders including the leadership team, internal clients, partners and capital providers. You will be required to work across different departments to gather information, analyze data, generate presentations, and provide recommendations. Management and Leadership Supervision and management of the operations of the accounting department, ensuring appropriate delineation of responsibilities and organizational forward planning Ownership of all aspects of company accounting including management reporting, three financial statements consolidation and de-consolidation, cash flow management and general accounting activities Assume, evolve, communicate and manage a timely and efficient close process Prepare appropriate variance analysis to review with Head of Finance and executive leadership team to analyze critical connections and gaps Leading, managing and mentoring 4 member accounting team Accounting and Finance Management of all financial, tax and banking activities including compliance and audits Monitor and research new GAAP pronouncements and evaluate the impact on the company Collaboration with Head of Finance and FP&A in developing annual budget, reconciliation of monthly financial results against budgets and forecasts Process Improvement Ensure conformance with and adherence to all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures. Establish documentation of policies, procedures and workflow where appropriate Lead the accounting system automation and integration into company-wide business intelligence tools to reduce manual intervention and accelerate accounting procedures Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university. CPA desirable but not necessary. The candidate (with or without CPA) must have proven technical accounting skills involving complex intercompany, accrual, lending/borrowing (asset and liability) and shareholder transactions that have resulted in repeatable consolidated internal financial and auditor reports. A minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in private accounting and public accounting with at least 5 years in a team leadership capacity. Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); basic knowledge of statutory accounting principles a plus.
